Fresh reviews of the B550

How does B550 distinguish itself?

External discrete graphics card

Radeon™ Graphics

Each B550 receives a free docking station (expansion socket) to support an external discrete graphics card. This allows you to render quickly, speed up editing, and play large games.

Powerful processor

Minisforum offers two different CPU options

  • AMD Ryzen™ 7 5700G:

8 cores 16 threads, max turbo frequency up to 4.6GHz

  • AMD Ryzen™ 7 4700G:

8 cores 16 threads, max turbo frequency up to 4.4GHz

4K triple display

EliteMini B550 can be connected to three displays at the same time, allowing you to enjoy the joy of working and playing on three screens.

Intel Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2

  • WiFi-6 : The latest WiFi standard offers you super-fast wireless connectivity. With the 802.11ax dual-band Wi-Fi, a wireless transfer rate of up to 2.4 Gb/s is achieved.
  • Built-in Bluetooth 5.2 lets you pair the B550 with all types of your Bluetooth-enabled peripherals.

Upgradable to Win11

EliteMini B550 comes with Win 10 Pro pre-installed and is upgradeable to Win 11 .
Besides, it also supports the Ubuntu system.

Update Friendly

The optional configuration includes barebone / 16GB (8GB x 2) / 32GB (16GB x 2) memory and 256 / 512GB SSD . There are three types of expansion slots inside. You can further increase the capacity according to your own needs.

What's in the box

Minisforum AtomMan Series has launched two 3A Gaming Mini PC, G7 Ti and G7 Pt. Many customers may be confused about the difference between them. Let us explore their differences together in this article.

Differences in Core Hardware Configuration

AtomMan G7 Ti

Intel® Core™ i9 14900HX
NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 4070 8G
DDR5 5600MHz, Max 96GB

AtomMan G7 Pt

AMD Ryzen™9 7945HX
AMD Radeon™ RX 7600M XT 8G
DDR5 5200MHz, Max 96GB

We tested the CPU-Z, R23, 3DMARK benchmark score data and the power consumption of Stress Test. Both models were tested in game mode. There are shortcut buttons on the side of both models to adjust the game/office mode, which is very convenient.

CPU-Z Test Results

As shown in the figure below, we can see that G7 Ti is stronger than G7 Pt in single-core performance, which means that in most single-core gaming scenarios, G7 Ti will perform better, which is also Intel's strength.

While thanks to the design of 16 large cores, G7 Pt is stronger than G7 Ti in multi-core performance, which means that G7 Pt will have more advantages in software that requires multi-core performance, such as design industry.

This is also proven in the R23's benchmark score.

3D MARK Test Results

In the 3D MARK Test, we tested the difference between the DX12 and DX11 of the G7 Ti's NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 4070 8G and the G7 Pt's AMD Radeon™ RX 7600M XT 8G, and there was no CPU bottleneck.

In the DX11-based Fire Strike benchmark, the scores of the two GPUs were very close. They are 28029 (NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 4070 8G) and 28178 (AMD Radeon™ RX 7600M XT 8G) respectively.

However, in the DX12-based Time Spy benchmark, the NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 4070 8G is nearly 20% stronger than the AMD Radeon™ RX 7600M XT 8G, which means that when most games in the future adopt DX12 technology, the frame rate of the GeForce RTX™ 4070 8G will be higher than that of the AMD Radeon™ RX 7600M XT 8G, and in DX11 games, this gap will be narrowed.

Power Consumption Test Results of Stress Test

In the Single Bake FPU Testing, the test results are shown in the figure below. After 15 minutes of testing, the i9 14900HX of the G7 Ti is stable at 90W and the temperature is maintained at 77°C, and the R9 7945HX of the G7 Pt is stable at 85W and the temperature is stable at 70°C. In terms of temperature control, both models perform quite well and the performance release is sufficient.

In the Double Bake Test, the G7 Pt needs to disable the 610M core graphics card, otherwise it will compete with the 7600MXT for power consumption. This needs to be noted. In the dual-baking environment, the power consumption of the G7 Ti is 55W+130W, the temperature is 75℃+84℃, and the power consumption of the G7 Pt is 85W+120W, the temperature is 85℃+74℃. From the performance release point of view, the CPU power consumption of the G7 Pt can be stabilized at 85W regardless of single or dual baking, and the performance release is very good.

We also tested the frame rate performance of Black Myth Wukong under the same image quality settings, using the game's own test tool, and the results are as follows.

Under the same 1080P high-quality settings, 100 rendering degrees, the test frame rate of G7 Ti is higher than that of G7 Pt, and we also tested the frame rate comparison of G7 Pt in FSR and TSR supersampling modes, and TSR is better than FSR.

In summary, both G7 Ti and G7 Pt can run Black Myth Wukong smoothly, and the overall performance of G7 Ti is better.
